(Providence, RI)  On October 19, 2009, the Rhode Island Free Clinic (RIFC) honored UnitedHealthcare of New England for its generous donation of $20,000 to further the work being done at the clinic.  "This money will be used to support affordable and high quality care and prevention for uninsured Rhode Islanders," said Lynne Urbani, CEO of the Rhode Island Free Clinic.  "We deeply appreciate the support of generous community partners such as UnitedHealthcare of New England to help us further our goals of treating the uninsured in this state," she added.

"We are pleased to support the continued good work of the Rhode Island Free Clinic," said Stephen J. Farrell, CEO of UnitedHealthcare of New England.  "At UnitedHealthcare, we believe knowledgeable patients can make better decisions for their personal health needs."

Additionally, today's donation will be used to focus on patient accountability.  RIFC encourages patients to take responsibility for their health through education and wellness programs.

The Rhode Island Free Clinic is the only licensed ambulatory care facility in Rhode Island to serve the uninsured exclusively.  RIFC draws upon a successful ten year history of providing high quality, comprehensive primary care to adults between the ages of 19 and 64.
